Prinsloo wins race to Asia six Leg

Jaco Prinsloo won the six leg of the Orange Crab Race to Asia over 54 holes at the Wingate Country Club, Pretoria on Wednesday.JacoPrinsloo

Prinsloo started the final day one shot behind Kevin Stone. His final-round 5-under-par 67 was enough to win by one on 11 under par from Stone, who shot a 3-under 69.

Prinsloo and Stone came down the 18 hole tied after Stone made a bogey on the 17 hole. Prinsloo hit a screamer down the par 5 18 hole with stone finding the left rough and laid up with his second shot. Prinsloo find the middle of the green with his approach shot and Stone’s third shot ended 12 feet from the cup.  Prinsloo 2 putted for his birdie and Stone missed his put to give Prinsloo his first Pro win.

Prinsloo said. “This is a great feeling and finally I have my first win. All the hard work with my coach Graeme Francis is now paying off.”

Prinsloo played solid golf for the three rounds and his score card showed 16 birdies for rounds of 67, 71 and 67. Stone rounds was 67, 70 & 69.

Other notable scores came from Zander Lombard with rounds of 74, 66 & 68 and Aubrey Barnard, who shot 66, 73 & 71. David Riddle was the winner of the low round on the final day with a 6-under par 66.

The Orange Crab Race to Asia is played over seven events during April and May and ends with the IGT Match Play at the end of May where there is one more place up for grabs.

IGT Tour Players can win one of the five fully paid places and is open to all golfers who have not got a Sunshine Tour card for 2013.
